Make it clear! How to process CNC is not expensive!
Now, because of the different costs of materials, processes and different projects in machining, let’s have a good talk today. How can CNC machining be inexpensive? What can we do to save costs and maximize the cost performance?
First of all, what are the main factors that affect cnc processing costs? The main factors come from four aspects: design, equipment, materials and production.
Design:
The more complex the parts are, the more expensive they are to be manufactured. All CNC machined parts are 3D models at first, which need to be designed with professional CAD software. The resources needed to design 3D models that can be put into production eventually account for a large part of the preparation cost.
It also includes all costs associated with design optimization and preparation for model production using professional CAM software. As well as specific part features and design will inevitably lead to increased costs, including sharp internal angles, thin walls, deep cavities, non-standard hole sizes, etc. In addition, specific design requirements, such as surface roughness or tolerance options, may require multiple processing and quality testing.
Equipment:
Different equipment has different advantages and pleasing points. It is necessary to consider selecting efficient machine tools with appropriate tools. Equipment and machinery belong to the cost of production preparation and ultimately affect the cost of processing plan.
CNC includes various machining processes, including drilling, boring, milling, etc. For most products, processing can be realized. Of course, CNC milling machine (multi axis milling machine) is more difficult to assemble, operate and maintain due to its features of more complex movable parts, but it can achieve more complex operations. Therefore, CNC milling machine is generally more expensive than other machine tools.
In addition, the material, coating and geometry of the tool all affect this cost. For example, cemented carbide tools are harder, more resistant to high temperatures, and can withstand high-speed operation. Their costs are twice as high as those of steel tools.
Material Science:
Product material is one of the most important cost influencing factors. The cost of materials varies in pricing, depending on their availability, material characteristics and overall production cost. Generally, metal materials are more expensive than other materials.
In addition to the cost of materials, processability is another important cost determining factor. Materials with low machinability will cost more time and energy to process. In the field of numerical control processing, time is money. The cost of processing a part is directly proportional to the time it takes to process it. Materials that are difficult to machine also consume more resources, such as cutting fluid, electricity and cutting tools.
Production:
The larger the production volume, the lower the cost
As the number of parts increases, the unit cost of making a set of identical parts will decrease. This proportional reduction in costs is due to the elimination of duplicate production preparation costs. The preparation costs of CAD design, CAM preparation and machine installation are all completed at one time for the same set of parts to be manufactured.
CNC processing will encounter various problems from preparation to production. Adhering to the concept of new technology and quality, Zhengheng Power has one-stop service from design to machining. We look forward to working with you!
