The subject of “The Application of Lean Production in Water Jacket Core Coating Processing Process” was submitted and selected by the Engineering Department of Zhengheng Co., Ltd. Foundry Plant. This subject was awarded the company’s 2016 “Excellent Project of the Year”.

The water jacket core is a key in the production of engine block castings. The sand core has a complex structure, high dimensional accuracy, thin cylinder walls and difficult cleaning. The craftsmanship of the water jacket core in the foundry must strive for excellence and continuous innovation in order to meet the ever-increasing requirements of customers and the market. Zhengheng Power fully implements TPS and continuously innovates and improves the environment, which greatly promotes the daily production optimization of the foundry factory. Nie Gong’s technical team relied on the powerful system of TPS to make improvements and innovations in the coating processing process of the water jacket core. From the incubation of creativity to the solidification of the current process, this subject makes full use of the four major tools of lean production: simplify, merge, rearrange and cancel. Here, I am very grateful to the technical engineers Nie, Chen, Wang and other technical engineers who have worked hard on this project, as well as the colleagues in the manufacturing department who led by the Ma section for their assistance in the implementation process.
