The horizontally opposed structure of this engine makes the design of the mold more complicated. The mold needs to consider how to achieve the symmetrical layout of the adjacent cylinders and how the piston connecting rod is connected to the crankshaft pin. At the same time, the mold also needs to reserve a suitable space and channel for the engine’s cooling system, lubrication system, etc., which increases the difficulty and complexity of the mold design.

The engine in the cylinder block casting process especially need to pay attention to accurate pressure control, for the horizontal opposed 8 cylinder engine die casting, need to accurately control the pressure, in order to ensure that the material can fully fill the cavity of the mold, to avoid the emergence of air holes, shrinkage holes and other defects.
